Jentin Racing-BMW Motorrad riders Steve Brogan and Richard Cooper put in a pair of solid performances in the third British Superbike Championship round at Oulton Park this weekend, with Brogan returning to the podium and Cooper bagging some useful points.

Liverpudlian Brogan was able to return to the BSB-EVO class after the team resolved the compatibility issue with the series control ECU and put in a sterling performance with a second in race one and a third in the second leg, which was held in very tricky and wet conditions.
Brogan: "I'm happy to be back on the podium considering the technical issues we suffered during qualifying. A second and a third in the EVO class races has put me right back into contention in the championship.
"I had to start from the back of the grid in the first race because I'd only managed one lap in qualifying before having to pull in because of an electronic gremlin. The whole Jentin team worked impressively hard overnight to get it sorted and the bike was running well in warm up. I had a flying start in the first race and managed to pass all my EVO competitors in the first couple of laps. I then settled in to a good rhythm and took the flag in second.
"The wet second race was fun! I made a great start and managed to get up to tenth overall but the power of the S 1000 RR chewed up the soft wet tyre very quickly. The bike was spinning up in fifth down the straight and my lap times started to drop off. I held on though and was pleased to finish with a third place and another trophy."
Metzeler National Superstock 1000 competitor Cooper qualified on the front row and was a second quicker than he had ever been around the fast Cheshire track. He eventually finished in sixth after a race-long battle with Howie Mainwaring but was pleased with the result and how his S 1000 RR performed.
Cooper: "Although I didn't get a podium I'm very happy with my performance today. Spencer Steele, my crew chief, and I have worked really hard on improving the feel of the bike for me and it's all gelled, I think we've really turned a corner.
"We've worked hard since Thruxton and found the race pace I've been lacking. I was fourth on the grid after qualifying and made a good start in the race. Jon Kirkham, also on a BMW, was uncatchable but I was in the fight for a podium place for most of the race and was really comfortable with the pace. With about three laps to go I made a little mistake coming out of Hizzy's chicane, which was enough of a warning for me not push too hard from then on."
Bernie Toleman, Team manager: "In many ways it's been our best weekend of the season so far, may be not in results but certainly in the progress that both riders and bikes have made. The two podiums from Steve and a strong sixth place from Richard are a deserved reward for the amazing amount of work our team have put in this weekend.
While we struggled in qualifying for the EVO class, we dug deep and have now managed to cure the compatibility issues regarding the EVO class control ECU. The unit is working well with the S 1000 RR so we can now concentrate on our challenge for the EVO championship title. Steve has really closed the gap on the championship lead this weekend.
"On the other side of the garage, Richard has found the base settings we've been searching for and his performance in an extremely fast and competitive Superstock class was very satisfying. He was comfortable running at the hot pace set by the front runners and was quite close to a podium.
"It's been a tough but very rewarding weekend."
