Classical Brit Award winners Blake have become the latest celebrities to be gripped by the biking bug and give their support to Get On, the groundbreaking nationwide campaign to promote motorcycling and scootering.
With two smash hit albums already under their belt the quartet have won over a global fan base, including A-list celebrities Keira Knightley, Will Smith and Kevin Spacey, while Dame Shirley Bassey specifically requested them to perform at her glittering gala 70th birthday bash.
All four members of the band (Stephen Bowman - from Bath, Humphrey Berney - from Norfolk, Jules Knight – from Sussex and Ollie Baines – from Wiltshire) will now be swapping the recording studio for life on two wheels having successfully passed their CBT – the test required to be able to ride a motorcycle or scooter up to a capacity of 125cc – at Metropolis Motorcycles in Vauxhall yesterday.
The Get On campaign, which is making biking and scootering more widely available to the public by offering FREE one hour taster sessions throughout the country via www.geton.co.uk, has been attracting a large celebrity following since it’s launch last year with former England cricket hero and Strictly Come Dancing star Darren Gough, X Factor finalist and Dancing on Ice champion Ray Quinn, and Boyzone heartthrob Shane Lynch all backing the campaign.
The Get On campaign, which is being supported by the strap line ‘Life’s better on two wheels’, promotes the freedom, fun, flexibility and sociability of biking, along with the time saving, accessibility, cost and environmental benefits, all benefits of which Blake will be taking advantage of.
Oliver Baines said: “We’re all incredibly excited about getting on two wheels having taken our CBTs at Metropolis. We spend a lot of time on tour buses going from gig to gig and have often talked about how much easier life would be if we were able to get around on bikes. Although we’ve often discussed getting bikes we’ve never really been too sure how to go about getting a licence and what bikes we should start off with. Get On has been the perfect guide for us and taken a lot of the mystery out of biking.
